Risk Officer

We seek a professional Risk Officer who embodies meticulous attention to detail in resolving risks, strong analytical skills, and a proactive approach to identifying, assessing, and mitigating risks while driving innovation and growth in capital markets.
In this role, the Risk Specialist is responsible for enterprise-wide non-financial risk duties (identification, measurement, mitigation, monitoring, and reporting) and complex assignments under supervision. This position will be a central role with participation to the design and/or development of key risk programs or risk models for the Group.
The role reports to the Head of the Group Risk Unit.
Key Accountabilities
- Coordinates with internal stakeholders across the organization in various areas, including IT, operations, financial reporting, information security, legal & compliance.
- Assists Risk Management Unit in policy and procedure documentation, governance and reporting activities, and regulatory compliance.
- Assists in improving and providing regular updates of various practices, reports, policies, and procedures with the Risk Management department.
- Enhances key risk processes and updates policies to reflect improvements.
- Reviews and challenges metrics and investigates metric breaches.
- Works to limit risk exposure including those resulting from human error, transaction, processing failure, external events, threats to information systems, data integrity, and fraudulent activities.
- Conducts assessments of business unit exposures, identifying risks, evaluating their potential impact, and reviewing the strengths and weaknesses of the firm's existing controls.
- Continuously monitors control compliance and prevalent risk environment to ensure that exposures are kept at acceptable levels.
- Assists in developing metrics, models, and tools to create and analyze Risk Loss Estimates.
- May design, develop, and implement independent reporting and/or financial analysis to assist in the Risk team’s oversight role and may design and deliver executive–level presentations.
Knowledge and experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Engineering, Quantitative, Risk, or related field and at least three (3) years of experience in risk management, consulting, technology, business analytics, data management, or financial industry.
- Very good verbal and written business communication skills in English.
- Experience with data visualization and programming software (e.g., Structured Query Language/SQL, Python, R, Power Business Intelligence/Power BI, or related database reporting software).
Skills and Competencies
- A self-starter with a high level of intellectual curiosity.
- Effective communication skills, both in developing deliverables and presenting to professionals at all levels.
- Good understanding of financial and/or non-financial risk management strategies.
- High degree of problem-solving skills with the ability to understand processes and technology enablement.
- Practical knowledge of enterprise risk management framework and principles.
- Solid project management and multi-tasking skills with demonstrated ability to manage expectations and deliver results.
Preferences
- Affinity with Enterprise Governance, Recovery & Resolution Planning, and Business Continuity Planning.
- Understanding of financial regulation (e.g., CSDR, EMIR, MIFID, DORA, NIS 2) is a plus.
- Working knowledge of risk and control self-assessment methodologies, processes, and tools.
- Financial Services experience/knowledge would be a plus.
- Affinity with ICT Risk would be a plus.
